CRAFT MORPHOLOGY DATABASE

The single most reported UAP shape across all databases. Ranges from small glowing orbs inches across to massive metallic spheres hundreds of feet in diameter. Documented across every era — from WWII Foo Fighters to the Hessdalen valley ongoing phenomenon and modern military drone-sphere encounters. Often reported to exhibit perfect symmetry and no visible propulsion system.

The second most common category — lights that behave intelligently. Distinguished from aircraft, satellites, or stars by their ability to stop, reverse, accelerate, and respond to other lights or aircraft. Not a specific morphology but a behavioral classification applied when no structured craft is discernible. Often reports a single, brilliant white or amber point source.

Large, dark, low-altitude triangles with lights at each vertex and often a central glowing orb. The most commonly correlated shape with military black programs (TR-3B Aurora, B-2 Spirit confusion). Move silently at extremely low altitudes — sometimes below rooftop level. Observed hovering for extended periods. The founder of The Omni Ledger witnessed this morphology personally over Ross Barnett Reservoir.

The archetype of the phenomenon since 1947. A flattened circular craft resembling two plates pressed together or a lenticular shape, often with a raised central dome. Despite popular association with the term "flying saucer," Kenneth Arnold's original 1947 description was actually crescent-shaped. The disc form was nonetheless reported independently across thousands of cases predating public awareness.

Between the sphere and the disc — an elongated oval or egg-shaped craft. Often reported as slightly wider than tall, with a smooth, featureless exterior. One of the most commonly reported shapes in close encounter (CE-2 and CE-3) cases, perhaps because the elliptical form is less culturally pre-loaded than the "classic saucer."

Popularized by the 2004 USS Nimitz encounter. A smooth, white, elongated oval resembling a large pharmaceutical capsule — about 46 feet long with no wings, exhaust ports, or visible propulsion. Commander David Fravor described it as "a white Tic Tac." The object demonstrated capabilities far beyond all known physics: instant acceleration, transmedium travel, and interference with F/A-18 radar targeting systems.

Long, tubular craft with tapered or rounded ends, no visible wings or propulsion. Often described as larger than a Boeing 747. Part of the 1896–1897 Great Airship Wave — one of the earliest modern UAP mass sighting events. Also documented by airline crews (Chiles-Whitted 1948: a cigar with illuminated windows). Associated with "mothership" type cases where smaller craft are observed departing from the main body.

Large V or boomerang-shaped craft. The defining shape of the Phoenix Lights (March 1997) and the Hudson Valley Wave (1982–86). Often described as enormous — a mile or more across — moving at impossibly slow speeds against the laws of aerodynamics for any known lifting body that size. Lights arranged along the leading edge, sometimes over a dozen.

Multiple objects flying in coordinated geometric patterns — triangles, lines, V-shapes, or complex lattices. Formations often maintain exact spacing and move as a unified system, eliminating the possibility of independent operation. Distinguished from military flares by directed motion against wind, sudden stops, and reconfiguration. The Lubbock Lights (1951) is the earliest extensively photographed formation case.

Objects observed to alter their physical form during the sighting — expanding, contracting, stretching, or transitioning between recognized shapes (sphere to disc, disc to triangle). May indicate plasma-state objects, objects of extreme flexibility, or a failure of human perception to properly interpret the craft's actual geometry. Jacques Vallée has noted this as a primary feature distinguishing UAP from human aircraft.

Angular, rectilinear objects with sharp 90° edges — fundamentally alien to the rounded aerodynamics of conventional aircraft. Reported from bedroom windows, near military facilities, and in broad daylight. The sharpness of the form, combined with observed hovering and acceleration, makes misidentification as a conventional object extremely unlikely. The USS Omaha cube-in-sphere footage (2019) is the most recent military corroboration.

Luminous plasma-like objects that follow directed, intelligent trajectories inconsistent with meteors, ball lightning, or bolides. Distinguished from natural phenomena by: course corrections, hovering, directional travel against wind, and response to aircraft. Some cases record the fireball leaving a structured craft after the plasma dissipates — suggesting a plasma "shell" around an underlying craft.

Four-pointed rhombus shape, often described as a diamond. The Cash-Landrum incident (1980) is the definitive diamond-type case — the object was described as a huge diamond-shaped craft with flames belching from the bottom, accompanied by 23 military helicopters. All three witnesses developed radiation sickness. Betty Cash later died of what her physician attributed to radiation-related illness.

Narrow-bottom, wide-top ovoid form. The Socorro 1964 landing case (Officer Lonnie Zamora) is the archetypal egg case — a smooth white egg-shaped object on four landing legs, with a red insignia on the side, which he observed as two small humanoid figures fled from it. Physical landing traces were confirmed by the FBI and examined by NASA. The case remains officially unexplained.

A rounded body tapering to a point — usually travelling point-first. Hydrodynamically efficient form, consistent with a craft designed for transmedium (air/water) travel. More aerodynamically "sensible" than many reported forms. Often observed at lower altitudes near bodies of water, supporting the transmedium hypothesis.

The historically critical shape. Kenneth Arnold, whose 1947 sighting coined the term "flying saucer," actually described nine CRESCENT or heel-shaped objects — not saucers. A newspaper reporter's misinterpretation of his description ("like saucers skipping on water") created a false archetype that persists today. Arnold's actual crescent-shaped craft moved with a fluttering, wavelike motion like a chain of skipping stones.

Navy fighter pilot Ryan Graves and his squadron encountered this specific type daily from 2014–2015 off the U.S. East Coast. A translucent sphere approximately 10 feet in diameter containing a dark, solid cube shape inside. The cube appeared to touch the sphere at its corners. The objects had no visible propulsion and operated in all weather, including hurricane conditions at 120-knot winds.

Point sources of light that appear stellar but violate the laws of orbital mechanics — stopping, reversing, accelerating at right angles, or blinking out. Distinguished from satellites by directional changes, and from aircraft by lack of navigation lights. Widely documented by amateur astronomers who are practiced at distinguishing real stars from moving objects.

A large acorn or bell-shaped object with a flat or banded base. The 1965 Kecksburg, PA crash is definitive — thousands witnessed a fireball impact, and witnesses who reached the crash site described an acorn roughly the size of a Volkswagen Beetle with hieroglyphic-like markings on a band near the base before military personnel secured the area. Linked by some researchers to the Nazi "Die Glocke" (The Bell) secret program.

Emerged into public awareness in 2023–2024 via a leaked DoD video from Ali Al-Salem Air Base, Kuwait. An object with a rounded, dome-like upper body and multiple hanging tendrils below — accurately described as jellyfish-shaped — was observed transiting from air to sea. The footage, apparently shot from a military facility, shows the object traveling across the base perimeter and diving into the ocean without slowing or disturbing the water surface.

Three-dimensional triangular pyramidal form — distinct from the flat black triangle in having true 3D geometry. The DIA later suggested the effect may be lens-based, but the raw footage and analysis by multiple experts indicates a physical object.

Objects with no discernible solid geometry — pure luminosity in an ill-defined, shifting cloud or blob. The Hessdalen valley in Norway has hosted recurring encounters since 1981, scientifically documented by Project Hessdalen and Italian researchers. Spectroscopic analysis revealed anomalous emission lines inconsistent with known plasma or ball lightning. The objects display intelligent behavior including radar reflection and response to laser light.

A central spherical or disc body encircled by a distinct horizontal ring or halo structure — resembling the planet Saturn. The JAL Flight 1628 incident (1986) over Alaska, investigated by the FAA, involved a crew that witnessed a massive walnut/Saturn-shaped craft approximately twice the size of an aircraft carrier. The FAA's John Callahan briefed the CIA on the case; recording devices aboard the aircraft confirmed the object on radar.
