Neither claim has ever been backed by a surviving, dated Skyhook launch log publicly matched to January 7, 1948, and at least one researcher has noted that General Mills' own operational records show sustained Skyhook launch activity from Clinton County did not begin in earnest until 1951 — a detail that, if accurate, would undercut the Ohio-launch theory specifically without resolving what balloon, if any, is the correct match.
