Chapter Three: Eugene Podkletnov's Rotating Superconductor (1992–2002)
The pattern's second attempted mechanism arrived nearly four decades later, from a completely unrelated branch of physics. In brief: beginning in 2015, Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) aerospace engineer Dr. Salvatore Cezar Pais filed a series of patents describing a resonant electromagnetic cavity engineered to create a "local polarized vacuum" around a craft, reducing its effective inertial mass — a third, again physically distinct mechanism, this time grounded in mainstream quantum electrodynamics (the Casimir effect and vacuum polarization) rather than electrostatics or superconductivity. No recovered UAP hardware or crash debris is tied to any of this theory's three mechanisms; its entire evidentiary trail runs through laboratory apparatus built to test a proposed effect, not through any craft component. What physical apparatus does exist is real and well-documented in each case: Brown's asymmetric-capacitor "gravitators" and later disc devices, verified against surviving patents and lab notebooks; Podkletnov's original Tampere superconducting disc and NASA/UAH's and Hathaway's later replication apparatus; and Pais's patented resonant-cavity design, which NAWCAD's own test program built and ran without confirming the claimed effect. David Fravor's account of the object's abrupt repositioning implies accelerations that would be lethal to a human occupant under any conventional inertial regime, exactly the survivability gap this theory's mass-reduction mechanisms are proposed to close. The T. Townsend Brown case file is this theory's primary case anchor for an entirely different reason — it is the origin point of the first attempted mechanism, not a UAP sighting at all, and its inclusion here reflects this theory's own structure as a chronicle of an attempted engineering solution rather than a single incident.
